BUTUAN CITY – A series of anti-illegal drug operations across Caraga on Monday, September 23, led to the confiscation of nearly ₱100,000 worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of five individuals, including a high-value target, police reported.
Police Brigadier General Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13), said the total value of the seized drugs was estimated at ₱99,280.
One of the arrested suspects was identified as alias “Jo,” 48, a high-value target, who was caught in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mahay, Butuan City. Police seized 10 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱68,000 from his possession.
In Surigao del Norte, three suspects were arrested in separate operations. Alias “Gab,” 38, and alias “Jun,” 46, were apprehended in Claver, while alias “Glen,” 35, was nabbed in Placer town. A total of 3.6 grams of suspected shabu, valued at ₱24,480, along with drug paraphernalia, were seized from them.
Meanwhile, in Bayugan City, police arrested alias “Zen,” 47, in Barangay Poblacion after responding to a theft complaint. Authorities recovered one gram of suspected shabu worth ₱6,800 during a body search.
All suspects are facing separate charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“These successful operations underscore the shared resolve of our communities to keep Caraga safe and free from the grip of illegal drugs. With the continued cooperation of the public, we are confident that more victories will be won in this fight,” Magistrado said.
