ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Western Mindanao Naval Command (WMNC) seized several high-powered firearms during a maritime and coastal security operation in the mangrove area of Barangay Landang Laum, Sacol Island, early morning on September 11, 2025.
The operation, carried out by Joint Task Force (JTF) Poseidon and Naval Task Force 61, led to the recovery of two M14 rifles (7.62mm), one M203 grenade launcher, and one Garand rifle.
The confiscated firearms were immediately brought to Naval Station Romulo Espaldon in Zamboanga City for safekeeping and custody.
Authorities said the successful recovery highlights the unwavering commitment of WMNC and its partner units to secure coastal communities, prevent the spread of illegal firearms, and maintain peace and order in the region.
