AGUSAN DEL NORTE — Five revolvers and four live rounds of ammunition were voluntarily surrendered to police authorities in separate municipalities of Agusan del Norte on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as part of the provincial police’s intensified campaign against loose firearms.

The surrender of the firearms was facilitated by personnel of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO) through its provincial mobile force companies and municipal police stations, as authorities continued efforts to reduce the number of unregistered and illegally possessed firearms in the province.

Police Colonel Ruel M. Cagape, ADNPPO provincial director, said personnel of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company facilitated the surrender of two revolvers in separate operations.

The first involved a .357-caliber revolver with four live rounds of ammunition surrendered by a 31-year-old welder identified only by the alias “Jeg,” a resident of Barangay Mahaba, Cabadbaran City.

The same police unit also facilitated the surrender of a .38-caliber revolver by a 46-year-old tricycle driver identified as “Joy,” a resident of Barangay Doña Rosario in Tubay.

Meanwhile, personnel of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company facilitated the voluntary surrender of another .38-caliber revolver from a 37-year-old farmer identified as “Greg,” a resident of Barangay Guinabsan, Buenavista.

Two additional revolvers were surrendered through separate municipal police operations.

The Kitcharao Municipal Police Station facilitated the surrender of a .38-caliber revolver by a 36-year-old farmer identified as “Fred,” a resident of Barangay Sangay.

In Magallanes, personnel of the Municipal Police Station received another .38-caliber revolver from a 39-year-old fish vendor identified as “Al,” a resident of Barangay Caloc-an.

All five firearms were surrendered voluntarily on the same day, bringing the total number of recovered weapons to five revolvers, accompanied by four live rounds of ammunition.

Police intensify campaign against loose firearms

Cagape said the simultaneous surrenders reflected the progress of the provincial police’s intensified campaign to encourage individuals possessing firearms without proper authorization to turn them over to authorities.

“Five firearms surrendered in a single day across municipalities — this shows our campaign is gaining ground. We commend these individuals for making the responsible choice,” Cagape said.

The campaign is part of broader peace and security efforts aimed at preventing the possible misuse of unregistered firearms and reducing the availability of weapons that could contribute to criminal activities and armed violence.

Under Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, a loose firearm includes an unregistered firearm, one with an obliterated or altered identification, a lost or stolen firearm, an illegal firearm, or a registered weapon possessed by someone other than its licensed owner. It also covers firearms whose licenses have been revoked under applicable laws and regulations.

The voluntary surrender of the five revolvers adds to the province’s efforts to strengthen community security through cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.

Police authorities continue to encourage responsible firearm ownership and compliance with existing firearms regulations as part of efforts to maintain peace and order throughout Agusan del Norte.
