GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental — A 61-year-old farmer was arrested in a joint law enforcement operation on Tuesday morning, September 9, after authorities recovered several improvised firearms and live ammunition from his residence in Barangay Mimbuntong.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 43, operatives of the 1001st Mobile Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), in coordination with the Gingoog City Police Station, conducted the raid at around 7:20 a.m. The operation ended at 9:24 a.m. with the arrest of the suspect, identified only as Julio to protect his privacy.
Police seized the following items during the search:
- Two improvised 12-gauge shotguns
- One improvised .22-caliber long barrel firearm
- Five live 12-gauge ammunition
- One black sling bag
Authorities said the farmer was taken into custody for violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. He is now detained at the Gingoog City Police Station while the confiscated items are secured by the 1001st MC, pending the filing of formal charges.
Police officials stressed that the operation highlights ongoing efforts by RMFB 10 and local units to enforce gun laws, curb the proliferation of loose firearms, and strengthen community safety through intelligence-driven policing.
