GINGOOG CITY, Misamis Oriental — Two remnants of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered along with their firearms to authorities in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, in a continuing effort to weaken the remaining insurgent presence in Northern Mindanao.

The surrender took place at around 6:45 p.m. on June 28, 2026, at the headquarters of the 1st Maneuver Platoon, 1001st Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), located in Sitio Lingcomonan, Barangay Binakalan, Gingoog City.
The operation was led by personnel of the 1001st Maneuver Company, RMFB 10 under the command of Police Captain Jhorlind Rico D. Apal, Company Commander, and conducted under the direct supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Bernard E. Pagaduan, AFC, RMFB 10.
Authorities identified the surrenderers as two individuals listed under the Non-Periodic Status Report (NPSR) as remnants of the Communist Terrorist Group. They turned themselves in peacefully together with their firearms, marking another accomplishment in the government’s ongoing campaign to encourage former insurgents to return to the fold of the law.
The surrender was made possible through the coordinated efforts of several law enforcement, intelligence, and security agencies. These included the S2-RMFB 10, Tactical Support Company (TSC) RMFB 10, Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office, Gingoog City Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office, DI-MAPIO, the 11th Special Action Company of the 1st Special Action Battalion of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (SAF), and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Region 10.
Following their surrender, the former rebels will undergo standard documentation, debriefing, and custodial procedures before being referred to the appropriate government agencies for assessment. They may also qualify for existing government reintegration and assistance programs designed to help former insurgents rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society, in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Police officials said the successful surrender highlights the effectiveness of sustained intelligence operations, inter-agency collaboration, and localized peace-building initiatives aimed at ending the decades-long communist insurgency in the region.
The Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and public safety through intensified security operations, intelligence-driven initiatives, and strong partnerships with local government units and other stakeholders.
Authorities also renewed their appeal to the remaining CTG members to lay down their arms and peacefully surrender, assuring them of humane treatment, legal protection, and opportunities for a fresh start under government reintegration programs.
Security officials emphasized that voluntary surrender remains one of the key strategies in achieving a peaceful and insurgency-free Region 10 while strengthening community development and long-term stability across Northern Mindanao.
