BUTUAN CITY — Authorities in Caraga Region arrested two drug suspects and confiscated nearly ₱150,000 worth of suspected shabu in separate buy-bust operations on August 24.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-13, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), reported that the anti-illegal drug operations yielded a total of 22 grams of shabu with a combined value of ₱149,600.

In Surigao del Sur, operatives apprehended a high-value target identified only as Mark, 34, during a buy-bust in Barangay Calagdaan, Cantilan. Confiscated from him were 12 grams of shabu valued at ₱81,600, along with marked money and other drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, in Butuan City, a street-level individual known as Dol, 49, was arrested in Barangay Bayanihan. He was caught with 10 grams of shabu worth ₱68,000 during the sting operation.

Police Brigadier General Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV, regional director of PRO-13, said the suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“Our relentless campaign against drug peddlers and users will not cease until the Caraga Region is fully freed from the grip of illegal drugs. We will continue to intensify our efforts and strengthen our collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils,” Magistrado stressed.

Both suspects are now in custody while authorities prepare the filing of appropriate charges.
