AURORA, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — A broad-daylight killing has sent shockwaves through Barangay Lubid after a man was mercilessly shot dead by unidentified assailants on the afternoon of August 12, 2025.
The victim was identified as Runie Montalban, of legal age. Based on initial police reports and CCTV footage, Montalban was riding his motorcycle when the suspects suddenly opened fire. The victim was thrown off his vehicle, but the attackers did not stop there — they went back and fired more shots at the already fallen man before fleeing the scene.
Authorities from the Aurora Municipal Police Station are now conducting a full-scale investigation to identify and capture the perpetrators, as well as determine the motive behind the crime. Investigators are also analyzing the CCTV footage as part of their evidence gathering.
The brazen attack, carried out in a public area in broad daylight, has raised concerns among residents about safety and the rising boldness of criminals in the province.
