Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A resident of Upper Pangi, Ipil, voluntarily surrendered an unserviceable .38 caliber revolver to authorities on Thursday, August 7, 2025, as part of the ongoing police campaign against loose firearms.

The operation, spearheaded by the Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) under the leadership of Force Commander PLTCOL Joseph R. Maulad, was conducted in coordination with the Ipil Municipal Police Station.

Authorities reported that the surrendered firearm had no serial number, no ammunition, and was already unserviceable. While no charges were filed, police emphasized that the turnover of the weapon contributes to public safety and the prevention of firearm-related incidents in the province.

“This is part of our sustained ‘Kontra Boga’ drive aimed at removing unregistered and loose firearms from circulation, thereby reducing the risks of crimes and violence in the community,” PLTCOL Maulad said.

Police urged other residents who may still be in possession of unlicensed firearms to voluntarily surrender them to local authorities, assuring that they will be received without penalty under the continuing campaign.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations against loose firearms and illegal weapons to maintain peace and order in the area.
