Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – August 6, 2025 — A police officer is now behind bars after being arrested for allegedly robbing a convenience store in Barangay Damilag, Manolo Fortich early morning on August 5.

The suspect, identified as Danny Javiero, was apprehended by authorities less than two hours after the incident. Javiero, who is reportedly assigned to the Malaybalay City Police Station, was caught at his residence in Menzi Village, Damilag around 8:40 a.m., following a swift response by the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station (MPS).

According to police reports, the 7-Eleven Convenience Store located in Purok-13, Brgy. Damilag was held up around 4 a.m. The store’s cashier noticed a man loitering outside the premises before he eventually entered, made a small purchase, and then declared a robbery.

The suspect made off with more than ₱12,000 in cash.

The store owner, a 59-year-old resident of Brgy. Tankulan, immediately reported the incident to the police. PLt./Col. Evary Bacunawa, Officer-in-Charge of the Manolo Fortich MPS, led the Quick Response Team (QRT) in investigating the case and locating the suspect.

Authorities have confirmed that Javiero is a member of the Philippine National Police. Police leadership condemned the act, emphasizing that they will not tolerate any behavior that tarnishes the integrity of the police force. They vowed to hold erring personnel accountable under the law.

An investigation is ongoing, and appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspect.
