COTABATO CITY — A 20-year-old student was found dead inside his family’s home in Purok Pagkakaisa, Barangay Rosary Heights 13, Cotabato City, on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2026.
Police identified the victim only as “Ray,” a 20-year-old unmarried resident of the area, pending the completion of the investigation.
According to the initial investigation of the Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO), the victim was first discovered by his younger sibling, identified as “Ren,” inside their room on the second floor of the house.
Ren reportedly found his sibling already unresponsive and immediately sought assistance from a relative. The relative rushed to the room and attempted to provide emergency assistance and resuscitation, but the victim could no longer be revived.
The incident was reported to Police Station 2 at around 10 a.m., prompting responding police officers and the duty investigator to proceed to the residence and conduct an initial investigation.
The Regional Forensic Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RFU-BAR) also processed the scene to document the area and collect possible evidence that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
As of the latest information available, authorities have not released a confirmed cause of death. Police are continuing their investigation to determine what happened to the student and establish other relevant details surrounding the incident.
Investigators are expected to consider the findings from the scene processing, forensic examination and other available evidence as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the victim’s death.
Authorities have yet to disclose additional details, including whether any signs of foul play were found at the residence.
