LAMITAN CITY, BASILAN — An 18-year-old mother is facing parricide charges after allegedly beating her six-year-old daughter to death on June 14, 2025, in Barangay Malinis, Lamitan City.
The suspect, identified by the Lamitan City Police Station as Sitti Fatima Amil Sahibil, is currently in police custody. Authorities confirmed that she will be charged with parricide in relation to Republic Act 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Police reports and witness accounts reveal that around 2:30 p.m. that day, the victim, identified as Sitti Yasmina Amil Sahibil, left their home with her cousin to buy vegetables at a nearby store without informing her mother. This reportedly angered the young mother.
Upon seeing her daughter on the road, Sahibil allegedly dragged her back home, placed her inside a sack, and repeatedly struck her with a stick. When she noticed her daughter was no longer breathing, Sahibil rushed the child to the Lamitan District Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Responding officers immediately arrested the suspect, who is now detained while formal charges are being prepared against her.
