DAVAO CITY – A regional-level high-value drug suspect was arrested in a successful anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), resulting in the seizure of nearly ₱300,000 worth of suspected shabu in Barangay Buhangin on Sunday morning.

The operation was carried out at around 7:06 a.m. on June 21, 2026, at Carpio Subdivision Corner, Cabantian Road, beside Esperanza Complex in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City.

Authorities identified the suspect as a regional-level High-Value Individual (HVI) involved in the illegal drug trade. During the buy-bust operation, law enforcement personnel confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱290,496.00.

The successful operation was led by personnel of Police Station 5-Buhangin under the command of PMAJ Clarian Dave S. Toboso, Station Commander, with the support and guidance of the Davao City Police Office headed by City Director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria.

Police officials lauded the dedication, professionalism, and relentless efforts of the operatives whose coordinated actions led to the arrest of the suspect and the disruption of another illegal drug network operating within the city.

According to DCPO, the accomplishment reflects the continuing commitment of law enforcement authorities to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and ensure that drug personalities are held accountable under the law.

The arrest also highlighted the strong collaboration among the Davao City Police Office, barangay officials, the City Government of Davao, and concerned residents who continue to support anti-criminality and anti-drug initiatives in their communities.

Authorities emphasized that the fight against illegal drugs remains a shared responsibility between law enforcement agencies and the public. They noted that community cooperation plays a crucial role in identifying drug activities and preventing the spread of illegal substances, particularly among vulnerable sectors such as the youth.

Police leaders reiterated that every successful operation contributes to the broader goal of protecting communities from the harmful effects of drug abuse, which continues to destroy lives, families, and livelihoods.

The DCPO also called on the public to remain vigilant and actively participate in reporting suspicious activities to authorities, stressing that sustained community involvement is essential in maintaining peace and order.

With the latest arrest and seizure, law enforcement authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening anti-drug operations across Davao City and ensuring that those engaged in the illegal drug trade are brought before the courts.

“The fight against illegal drugs is not solely the responsibility of the police. It is a collective effort that requires the participation of every citizen,” the DCPO said, underscoring its vision of a safer, more secure, and drug-free Davao City.

The arrested suspect is now facing charges for violations of the country’s anti-illegal drugs law, while the confiscated suspected shabu has been submitted for laboratory examination and proper documentation as evidence in court proceedings.
