PARANG, Maguindanao del Norte — A man was killed after being shot by an unidentified assailant in Upper Nituan, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, on Sunday afternoon, June 14, prompting police authorities to launch a hot pursuit operation against the suspect.

The victim was identified by authorities as Bobby Macapeges, a resident of Miramar, Barangay Poblacion 2 in Parang.
According to initial police reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 5:28 p.m. in Upper Nituan. Witnesses reported that the gunman immediately fled the scene following the attack, leaving the victim fatally wounded.
Personnel from the Parang Municipal Police Station swiftly responded to the incident and secured the crime scene while initiating an intensive manhunt to locate and arrest the suspect.
Investigators revealed that a firearm believed to be a .45-caliber pistol was used in the killing. During the crime scene processing, authorities recovered two spent shell casings, which have been turned over for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) also arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough forensic assessment and gather evidence that could help identify the perpetrator and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police have yet to determine the identity of the gunman and the motive behind the attack. Investigators are currently examining possible leads, reviewing witness accounts, and analyzing forensic evidence recovered from the scene.
The fatal shooting has raised concern among residents of the area, as authorities continue efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice and prevent similar incidents from occurring.
As of press time, the suspect remains at large, while the investigation remains ongoing.
