NASIPIT, Agusan del Norte — A suspect in a stabbing incident in Carmen town was arrested at a police checkpoint on the afternoon of April 30, 2026, after attempting to flee the area on a motorcycle, authorities reported.

The arrest was carried out at around 2:20 p.m. at a checkpoint in Barangay Camagong, Nasipit, by personnel of the Agusan del Norte 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st PMFC) during intensified 24/7 security operations.
The suspect, who was allegedly involved in a stabbing incident earlier in Barangay Tagcatong, Carmen, was intercepted during routine inspection procedures. Police said the operation was conducted in close coordination with the Carmen Municipal Police Station.
According to initial reports, the suspect was already attempting to escape onboard a single motorcycle following the stabbing incident. However, he was flagged down and apprehended at the checkpoint before he could leave the area.
Notably, the checkpoint team that led the arrest was composed primarily of female police officers, who were credited for their swift and decisive action in stopping the fleeing suspect. Their response prevented the suspect’s escape and ensured his immediate custody.
Authorities emphasized that the successful arrest highlights the critical role of sustained police visibility, particularly through strategically placed checkpoints, in curbing criminal activities and ensuring public safety. The operation also demonstrated effective coordination between mobile force units and local police stations in responding to ongoing incidents.
The suspect is now under police custody and is expected to face charges in connection with the stabbing incident. Further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
