DAVAO CITY — Authorities successfully arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized approximately ₱1.36 million worth of suspected shabu in a late-night anti-drug operation in Barangay Lasang, Bunawan District.

Operatives of the Bunawan Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation at around 10:52 p.m. in Purok Virgo, Barangay Lasang, leading to the arrest of the suspect identified only as alias “Jamil,” a 45-year-old driver and resident of Visayan Village, Tagum City.
Police reports said the suspect was apprehended after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative, confirming his involvement in the illegal drug trade. Authorities classified him as a high-value individual, indicating his significant role in local drug distribution.
Confiscated from the suspect were one sachet of suspected shabu used as the buy-bust item and two additional sachets recovered as possession items. The total estimated standard drug price of the seized illegal substances reached ₱1,360,000.
Also recovered during the operation were the marked buy-bust money amounting to ₱1,000, boodle money used in the transaction, a mobile phone believed to be used in coordinating drug deals, and a Suzuki Raider motorcycle allegedly utilized in the distribution of illegal drugs.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Bunawan Police Station and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations in the region, emphasizing that sustained law enforcement efforts are crucial in dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring community safety.
