MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Authorities intensified their crackdown on illegal drugs after the Marawi City Police Station (CPS) successfully dismantled a suspected drug den and arrested five individuals during an operation on March 18, 2026, in Barangay Marawi Poblacion.

The operation was launched following a tip from concerned residents reporting an ongoing pot session at a residence allegedly owned by a certain “Hafis.” Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives conducted a verification and proceeded to the location, where they caught the suspects in the act of using illegal drugs.

Seized during the operation were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 5.17 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 35,156.00. Authorities also recovered various drug paraphernalia, including an improvised glass tooter, a pair of scissors, and a weighing scale—items commonly associated with the use and distribution of illegal substances.

The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated evidence, were brought to the Marawi CPS for proper documentation and legal processing. Authorities are preparing charges against them for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Colonel Caezar P. Cabuhat, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, lauded the operating personnel for the successful dismantling of the drug den. He also underscored the critical role of community cooperation in sustaining anti-drug efforts.

“This successful operation highlights the importance of public vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies. We encourage the community to continue reporting illegal activities to help us maintain peace and order,” Cabuhat said.

The operation forms part of the Philippine National Police’s ongoing campaign to eradicate illegal drugs and dismantle drug networks across the region, particularly in areas identified as hotspots for drug-related activities.
