DAVAO CITY — A 49-year-old division head of a construction company was injured after being shot by an unidentified riding-in-tandem along Pag-asa Drive corner McArthur Highway in Barangay Bangkal, Davao City on Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026.


Police identified the victim only as alias “Milfred,” a resident of Cabantian, Davao City. Based on information from the Davao City Police Office, the incident happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. while the victim was driving his vehicle from McArthur Highway toward the downtown area.
Initial investigation revealed that upon reaching the area, the victim was suddenly approached by a man riding a motorcycle who then shot him several times before fleeing the scene. Authorities later recovered empty shell casings and slugs at the crime scene, with witnesses reporting that at least three gunshots were heard.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where police said his condition is now stable. Investigators believe the victim may have been tailed for several minutes after leaving his workplace prior to the shooting.
Police said they have yet to establish a clear motive behind the attack. Family members of the victim told authorities that he had no known enemies and did not receive any threats before the incident.
A hot pursuit operation was immediately launched, but the suspect remains unidentified and at large. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are waiting for the victim’s full recovery so they can obtain his formal statement.
The Davao City Police urged anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward, as they continue efforts to identify and arrest the suspect.
