SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — A delivery truck carrying refilled mineral water was damaged after it was allegedly hit by a grenade in Purok 7B, Barangay Tagapua, in San Francisco on Tuesday, January 21, triggering alarm among nearby residents.

Initial police reports indicated that the truck, reportedly owned by former Sangguniang Bayan member Genden Dayondon, was in the middle of its delivery operations when a loud explosion was heard. Residents said the sudden blast caused panic in the area, with some fearing for their safety as debris scattered near the highway.

Authorities said the attack may be linked to an alleged robbery attempt targeting the delivery truck, which was transporting containers of water intended for sale. However, investigators have yet to determine the exact motive behind the incident and whether the perpetrators intended to harm the driver or solely disable the vehicle.

No injuries were immediately reported, although the extent of the damage to the truck has yet to be fully assessed. Police officers from the San Francisco Municipal Police Station immediately responded, secured the area, and launched a thorough investigation.

Law enforcement officials are now working to identify the suspects and establish whether the incident in Barangay Tagapua is connected to a similar grenade attack reported earlier along a highway in Purok 6, Barangay Pisaan, also involving a delivery truck linked to the same former local official.

As of this writing, the police have not released an official statement regarding possible suspects or the motive behind the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities assured the public that additional updates will be released once new information becomes available.
