JOLO, Sulu — The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division formally welcomed the 18th Infantry “Deo et Patria” Battalion into its ranks following the battalion’s official reassignment from the 1st Infantry Division during a Pinning of Unit Patch Ceremony on January 20, 2026, in Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, Barangay Busbus.

The ceremony marked the full integration of the 18th Infantry Battalion into the Alakdan Division, symbolized by the formal donning of the division’s unit patch by officers and enlisted personnel. The ritual signified the battalion’s new identity, shared mission, and strengthened commitment as part of the 11ID family.
The activity was led by Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Orion, and attended by division officers and troops. The 18th Infantry Battalion is commanded by Lt. Col. Anthony C. Caro.
In his message, Maj. Gen. Peña underscored that the Alakdan patch embodies honor, discipline, and collective responsibility, reminding soldiers that they now carry not only the legacy of their battalion but also the values and standards of the 11th Infantry Division.
“From this day forward, your actions will reflect the values and spirit of the Alakdan Division. True strength is built quietly through integrity, discipline, and the courage to do what is right. Lead with compassion, serve with humility, and anchor your service in God and country,” Peña said.
The Pinning of Unit Patch Ceremony reaffirmed the soldiers’ pledge to live by the battalion’s motto, Deo et Patria (For God and Country), now as proud members of the Alakdan Division—strengthening unity, purpose, and resolve in advancing peace and security efforts in Sulu and the broader area of operations.
