ISABELA CITY — A tricycle driver and his female passenger were injured after they were shot by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Sunrise, Isabela City, at around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, authorities said.
The victims were identified as Jane, 52, a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Isabela City, and Sany Boy, 38, married, a resident of Barangay Calang Canas, Maluso town, who is currently residing in Barangay Binuangan, Isabela City.
Based on initial police reports and witness accounts, the victims were onboard a tricycle when the suspect suddenly approached and opened fire. The gunman immediately fled the scene after the shooting, heading in an unknown direction.
Police and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the victims to the nearest hospital for immediate medical treatment. Authorities have yet to disclose details regarding the victims’ current condition.
The Isabela City Police Office has launched a full investigation to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are also reviewing possible CCTV footage in the area that may provide crucial leads.
In the meantime, police have increased security presence and patrols in Barangay Sunrise to prevent similar incidents. Authorities are urging the public to cooperate and report any information that could help in the swift resolution of the case.
