Isabela City, Basilan – An employee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) was critically wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Maligue, Isabela City on Saturday evening, November 22, 2025.
The victim, identified as Ilmie H. Ibama, was reportedly on his way to visit his wife when gunfire erupted around 6:30 p.m., according to his brother, Calmers Julian. Residents in the area confirmed hearing shots before rushing the victim to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention. His current condition has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities promptly arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify the suspect. Police officials are conducting interviews with witnesses and reviewing reports while a manhunt for the shooter is underway.
“This is a serious incident, and we are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice,” said a local police officer, who requested anonymity due to the ongoing investigation.
The shooting has raised concerns among residents in Barangay Maligue, highlighting security issues in the area. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
