KABACAN, COTABATO — A soldier assigned in Carmen, Cotabato died after falling off a motorcycle he was riding as a passenger and being run over by a trailing vehicle along the national highway in Barangay Katidtuan late Friday night, December 5, 2025.
Initial police reports showed that the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. when the victim, reportedly intoxicated at the time, lost his balance and fell onto the road. A mini van traveling behind the motorcycle struck him and immediately fled the scene.
Responding units rushed the victim to the nearest hospital to receive urgent medical attention. However, he was later declared dead due to the severity of his injuries.
Authorities have launched a follow-up investigation to identify the driver of the fleeing vehicle and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to coordinate with the nearest police station to help expedite the case. A manhunt is now underway for the involved mini van.
Police also reminded motorists to avoid driving or traveling while intoxicated to prevent similar tragedies, emphasizing that those who have consumed alcohol should rest and refrain from taking the road for their own safety and that of others.
