MAKILALA, COTABATO — A 24-year-old man was found lifeless after allegedly taking his own life using a piece of twine on Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, in Sitio Sta. Cruz, Poblacion, Makilala.
Police identified the victim as Diether Dela Cerna, a resident of the area. Initial investigation from the Makilala Municipal Police Station revealed that the victim was discovered inside their home by family members at around 9:20 a.m. Authorities also learned that the victim’s partner had recently left him, though investigators have yet to release complete details as the probe continues.
Responding officers from Makilala MPS cordoned off the area as they gather more information to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. Authorities stressed that no conclusion has been made pending further investigation.
Police issued a stern reminder to the public to immediately seek help when facing emotional distress, personal problems, or mental health struggles.
“We encourage everyone to talk to counselors, reach out to trusted neighbors or family members, and contact authorities if they feel overwhelmed. Early intervention can prevent tragedies,” the police advisory stated.
