Libungan, Cotabato — November 2025
What was supposed to be a romantic meet-up turned into a full-blown family drama, a mini police operation, and ultimately — a recovery mission for one young man’s smartphone.
According to reports, 21-year-old Alyas Nonoy, a mason from Balogo, Pigcawayan, rushed through his work at his uncle’s house after receiving a message from a woman he had been chatting with online. The mystery lady? Alyas Bles, who supposedly lived in Libungan but was known for hopping from one address to another.
Excited for the meet-up, Nonoy even borrowed his brother’s motorcycle — “para mas mabilis makarating.” But the night didn’t go quite as he imagined.
During their meetup in Sitio Bungot, Poblacion, Bles asked to borrow Nonoy’s cellphone, saying she needed to make a call. The moment Nonoy glanced at his motorcycle, Bles bolted — sprinting straight to another motorcycle driven by her male accomplice. Off they went, taking Nonoy’s phone with them.
As night fell and Nonoy’s family failed to reach him, they started to worry… only to be met by a sheepish and exhausted Nonoy when he finally went home at around 8 p.m. And yes — he had to explain everything.
With the help of police and residents who recognized the woman, authorities tracked down Bles’ temporary residence in Barangay Cabaruyan. There, they recovered the stolen cellphone — much to the relief of Nonoy’s family.
But while the phone came back safe and sound, Nonoy wasn’t spared from the real consequence:
the legendary, full-family sermon.
His relatives reportedly gave him an earful, questioning why he needed to meet another woman when — as they emphasized repeatedly — may girlfriend naman siya! The borrowed motorcycle was another point of heated… discussion.
Despite the chaos, the family is grateful that Nonoy wasn’t harmed, and that neither his phone nor the borrowed motor ended up in the wrong hands for good. They now hope the suspect, Bles, won’t be able to victimize anyone else.
As for Nonoy? Let’s just say he probably won’t be scheduling any secret meet-ups for a while.
