SURALLAH, SOUTH COTABATO — Authorities have confirmed the identity of a woman whose body was found after reportedly being swept away by raging floodwaters from the Allah River on Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2025.

The victim, known by the alias “Marvis,” of legal age and a resident of Purok Magsaysay, Barangay Lamsugod, was discovered lifeless at the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Dam in Barangay Colongulo at around 4:00 p.m. Her family later identified the remains.

According to individuals familiar with the victim, she was believed to have gone swimming in the Allah River before she was carried away by strong currents and later found at the dam. Witness “Romeo,” a dam caretaker, told investigators he spotted the body while cleaning the intake gate and immediately reported it to authorities.

Rescue personnel and police responders worked for hours and were able to retrieve the body at around 8:00 p.m.

The remains were initially brought to Serenity Funeral Homes in Surallah and later transferred to the SOCCSKSARGEN General Hospital in Barangay Dajay for a post mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and check for any signs of foul play.

Police investigators from the Surallah Municipal Police Station are continuing their probe to establish whether the incident was purely accidental or if other factors may have been involved.
