MATI CITY, Davao Oriental – A woman was found dead after reportedly taking her own life on Friday morning, October 3, 2025, in Purok Bagong Anyo, Barangay Matiao, Mati City.

The victim, identified only as “Sally,” a resident of the area, was discovered by her niece hanging from a santol tree around 10:00 a.m. According to initial reports, the niece was walking nearby when she unexpectedly found her aunt in the said condition. She immediately sought help from neighbors in hopes of saving her, but it was too late.

Neighbors said the victim had been dealing with personal problems prior to the incident, which they believe may have contributed to her tragic decision. Authorities are still conducting an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding her death. The victim’s remains are now at a local funeral home for proper disposition.
