MATI CITY, Davao Oriental — Authorities are conducting search operations for a missing fisherman who reportedly fell off a fishing boat on the evening of October 3, 2025, off the coast of Purok Tambak, Barangay Macambol, Mati City.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the missing fisherman as Mr. Aljun Gemar, 26 years old, single, and a resident of Barangay Macangao, Lupon, Davao Oriental. Gemar was reportedly onboard FBCA Jhon when he accidentally fell into the sea around 8:00 p.m.
According to the Coast Guard Substation Mati, Gemar was last seen wearing a black jacket with a reflector. A Notice to All Mariners (No. 022) issued on October 4 urged all fishing vessels, watercraft operators, and local fishermen transiting the area to be on alert and help in locating the missing man.
The PCG appealed to anyone who might have spotted the missing fisherman or has relevant information to immediately contact the nearest Coast Guard Station through this number: 0966-837-0536.
As of press time, search and rescue operations continue along the coastal waters of Macambol, with the Coast Guard coordinating with local fishermen and barangay officials for wider dissemination and assistance.
