COTABATO CITY — A 27-year-old restaurant employee is recovering in a hospital after being shot late Sunday night, October 26, 2025, along 3rd Street, Rosary Heights 5, Cotabato City.
The victim, identified by police as alias Abdul, a resident of San Pablo Village, RH-11, was reportedly shot by a suspect known only as Dhen, also a resident of the city.
According to an initial report from Police Station 2, the suspect called the victim and asked to meet him. When the victim stepped out, the suspect allegedly opened fire without warning. Abdul sustained a gunshot wound under his right armpit but managed to run for safety and was later rushed by concerned residents to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses told investigators that they heard several gunshots around 11:50 p.m. before seeing a man flee the scene toward a boarding house in the area. The suspect immediately escaped on a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle heading toward an undetermined direction.
Police recovered four spent shells of a .45 caliber firearm from the crime scene. Investigators are now pursuing leads indicating that a personal grudge may have triggered the attack.
Authorities have launched a manhunt operation to locate and arrest the suspect, while the victim remains under medical care. The Cotabato City Police continue to gather evidence and testimonies to establish the full circumstances of the shooting.
