KALAMANSIG, Sultan Kudarat (October 14, 2025) — Two individuals were arrested after authorities intercepted ₱1.08 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during a checkpoint operation in Barangay Cadiz, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
Personnel of the 2nd Sultan Kudarat Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd SKPMFC), led by PLTCOL William L. Facsoy Jr., Force Commander, conducted the operation that resulted in the confiscation of 18 boxes of smuggled cigarettes branded Berlin, equivalent to around 900 reams.
The contraband was found inside a white Toyota Hi-Ace van with plate number MAZ 9444.
Authorities identified the suspects as residents of Barangay Kinudalan, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat. The operatives informed them of the reason for their arrest and their constitutional rights in a language they understood.
The suspects, along with the seized items, were brought to the Kalamansig Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.
Police said the operation forms part of the intensified campaign against smuggling and other illegal activities, in line with Republic Act 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to curbing illicit trade in the province and ensuring strict enforcement of customs and trade laws.
