GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A police operation led by the Fatima Police Station resulted in the death of a man identified as Jaycee Balolong, also known as “Jessie,” the son of a former Barangay Calumpang councilor, during the implementation of a search warrant on Friday night, October 17, 2025, in Purok 11-C, Block 6, Barangay Fatima, General Santos City.
Police authorities said the operation was conducted around 10:00 p.m. by virtue of a court-issued search warrant following reports that illegal drugs and firearms were present inside a rented house.
According to the police, the suspect, alias Jessie, allegedly resisted arrest and engaged the operatives, prompting an exchange of gunfire that led to his death. His body was immediately brought to a local funeral home. Another resident was also injured during the incident and was rushed for medical treatment.
Recovered from the scene were a .40 caliber pistol, approximately 18 grams of suspected shabu contained in four medium and two small sachets with an estimated value of ₱127,160.00, more than 200 rounds of ammunition, and other illegal drug paraphernalia.
Purok Chairperson Marires Omal confirmed that the suspect had been renting the house for only about two months. Barangay Fatima Captain Renante Curit said residents were alarmed by the sound of gunfire that broke the calm of the night.
