DAVAO CITY – What began as a mother’s simple plea for milk money for her child ended in tragedy after she was stabbed by her live-in partner in Purok 5, Communal, Buhangin, around 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The victim, identified as alias Lyn, 25, was reportedly attacked by her partner, alias Jay, 31, a construction worker, who had just come home drunk. Instead of providing for his family’s needs, the suspect allegedly flew into a fit of anger when Lyn asked for money to buy milk for their child. He then stabbed her in the back of the neck using a pair of scissors.

Despite her injuries, Lyn managed to run for help, leading to the quick arrest of the suspect. She was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for urgent medical attention.

Neighbors expressed sympathy for the young mother, saying her only concern was to secure milk for her child. “She was only thinking of her baby’s welfare,” one resident shared.

The suspect, who now faces charges of attempted homicide, is being criticized for his irresponsible behavior. Instead of fulfilling his role as a father, he reportedly chose to spend his earnings on alcohol, leaving his family’s needs unmet.

Authorities remind the public that domestic violence remains a serious social issue, often fueled by alcohol abuse and neglect of family responsibilities.
