OPOL, Misamis Oriental (Sept. 27, 2025) — Authorities intercepted two Isuzu Elf trucks loaded with 183 sacks of suspected illegally mined mineral ores in an anti-illegal mining operation in Barangay Limonda, Opol, Misamis Oriental, on Saturday night.
The operation stemmed from a tip relayed to the Opol Municipal Police Station (MPS) regarding alleged illegal mining activities in the area. Acting swiftly, police officers led by PMaj. Teodoro Panganiban De Oro, in coordination with the Provincial Capital of Misamis Oriental Task Force headed by PMaj. (Ret.) Allan Payla under the direct supervision of PMaj. (Ret.) Rogelio Labor, and elements of the Provincial Mobile Force Company under the leadership of PLt. Col. Denver M. Vergara, immediately proceeded to verify the report.
Upon arrival, operatives confirmed the information and discovered two Isuzu Elf trucks carrying 183 sacks of mineral ores without proper documentation. The confiscated items, estimated to be worth ₱269,000, were inventoried by PSSg. Carl A. Reyes in the presence of Barangay Limonda Councilor Hon. Jenalyn Lacdagan, who served as an insulating witness.
Both the vehicles and the mineral ores are now under the custody of the Provincial Task Force as authorities conduct further investigation to determine the source and intended destination of the confiscated ores.
The successful operation was concluded at around 9:09 p.m. on September 27. Police said charges related to violations of mining and environmental laws are being readied against those responsible.
