CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — Sulu Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan met with top national and regional leaders on August 8, 2025, to discuss strengthened strategies for safety, security, and development in Mindanao.
The meeting, held at the Department of National Defense (DND) headquarters, brought together Vice Gov. Tan, DND Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, newly installed Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio “Toto” Nafarrete, and Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman.
Discussions focused on enhancing peace and security efforts across the region, with emphasis on bolstering maritime security. The leaders also explored potential partnerships aimed at improving the delivery of basic services, ensuring that communities benefit from more efficient and coordinated government action.
“We met to talk about measures to strengthen safety and security in our provinces and the region, including maritime security,” Gov. Hataman said. “As leaders who share the same vision for development and peace, we also discussed possible partnerships that could make the delivery of basic services more effective for our people.”
