ZAMBOANGA CITY — Three active members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) were arrested on the evening of July 31, 2025, after allegedly firing their service firearms while under the influence of alcohol in Barangay Quiniput, east of this city.
According to the official spot report, the Zamboanga City Police Station 2 (Curuan), led by PEMS Benrasdi Salikala, responded to the area at around 8:52 PM following a report from a concerned resident about indiscriminate gunfire.
The police, accompanied by Barangay Chairman Hon. Christian Perez, immediately launched a hot pursuit operation and apprehended the suspects, who were on board a gray Ford vehicle bearing plate number TZO 498.
During the operation, authorities confiscated four firearms and recovered two empty bullet shells from the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspects were intoxicated at the time of the incident. All three are now under police custody and are facing appropriate charges for illegal discharge of firearms and possible administrative sanctions from their military unit.
The firearms used in the incident have been secured as evidence while the investigation is ongoing.
