KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – A 28-year-old vlogger known online as “TG” or “Thailand Girl,” who has amassed over 2.5 million followers on Facebook, was arrested on Friday, August 8, 2025, in Barangay Morales, Koronadal City, over a pending case of online libel.

Joint elements of the Koronadal City Police Station, San Pedro Police Station in Davao City, and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) 12 served the warrant of arrest against the suspect at around 11:56 a.m. in her residence at Southwind Subdivision, Barangay Morales.

Police identified the vlogger as Jeren Jude Bacas Nebit, 28. The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by Hon. Clarissa M. Superable-Develos, presiding judge of RTC Branch 52, 11th Judicial Region in Davao City, on May 20, 2025. The case involves alleged violations of Section 4(c)(4) of Republic Act 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which penalizes online libel. The recommended bail was set at ₱48,000, which she was able to post.

According to Koronadal City Police Chief PLt. Col. Peter Pinalgan, the accused was informed of her constitutional rights during the arrest. She is currently awaiting the commitment order from the court of origin.

Under RA 10175, cyber libel is defined as the act of committing libel through a computer system or any similar means. The law builds on provisions of the Revised Penal Code on libel, but imposes penalties one degree higher if committed online. It also covers other cybercrimes such as hacking, cybersex, identity theft, and online fraud.

Police reminded the public that while freedom of expression is guaranteed under the Constitution, it should be exercised responsibly, especially on digital platforms where content is easily disseminated and archived.
