GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Residents of Molave, Rosario Subdivision, Barangay Lagao were shocked after the lifeless body of an infant boy, estimated to be around six to seven months old, was discovered stuffed inside a plastic cellophane bag on Wednesday afternoon, August 27, 2025.

Police said the body was found at around 3:30 p.m., abandoned along the roadside of the subdivision. Authorities immediately responded and brought the remains to a local funeral home in General Santos City.

The Lagao Police Station has launched a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances behind the infant’s death and to identify the person or persons responsible for leaving the child in such a disturbing manner.

Investigators have yet to establish whether foul play was involved or if the incident points to possible neglect or abandonment. Authorities are also appealing to the public for any information that could shed light on the case.

Local residents expressed outrage and grief over the discovery, condemning the act as both heartless and inhumane. Community members called for swift justice for the infant, stressing that no child deserves such a fate.

The incident adds to the growing concern over child welfare and abandonment cases in the country, with advocates urging stronger protection measures and greater awareness on the sanctity of life.
