Davao City once again shone brightly as the Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2025 crowned its queens — women whose grace, wisdom, and cultural pride reflect the rich tapestry of traditions woven into the city’s identity. The annual search, one of the highlights of the Kadayawan Festival, goes beyond beauty and poise. It is a platform that honors the voices, stories, and heritage of the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes, celebrating Davao as a living melting pot of cultures.

This year’s top titles were awarded to three remarkable young women: Hiyas sa Kadayawan – Sittie Norhanna Sangcaan of the Bangsa Maranao, Hiyas sa Panaghiusa – Catherine Kate Oda of the Bagobo Tagabawa, and Hiyas sa Kalambuan – Jovie Otahi of the Ata Tribe. Each title embodies a unique value: Kadayawan for cultural radiance, Panaghiusa for unity, and Kalambuan for progress — values that are deeply rooted in the festival’s spirit.
Beyond the glittering crowns and traditional finery, the pageant is a powerful reminder that Davao City’s strength lies in its diversity. These women, along with the other candidates including the eight inspiring Hiyas sa Kaliwatan, showcased dances, stories, and rituals passed down through generations — living proof that heritage is not static, but a legacy carried forward with pride.
Mayor’s remarks and the cheers of the audience underscored the unifying power of the event. “Padayon, mga Hiyas!” became the rallying cry — a call to continue preserving culture, fostering understanding, and celebrating differences as sources of collective strength.
The Hiyas sa Kadayawan Queens of 2025 are more than pageant winners. They are cultural ambassadors, bridges between generations, and symbols of hope for indigenous youth. Their triumphs illuminate Davao City’s heart and soul, reminding everyone that unity is possible when respect and pride for one’s heritage lead the way.
As the festival’s colors fade into memory, their stories remain — stories that affirm that Davao is, and will always be, a city where cultures meet, mingle, and move forward together. Mabuhay ang mga Hiyas sa Kadayawan!
