DATU ODIN SINSUAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — Five minors, including three girls, were arrested during an anti-drug buy-bust operation conducted on Monday afternoon, August 4, in Zone 5, Barangay Tamontaka, this town.
The operation was spearheaded by Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station’s Deputy Chief for Operations, Police Captain Sammy Panning. Authorities caught the minors in the act of using illegal drugs, consuming alcohol, and reportedly engaging in lewd acts.
The site of the operation was confirmed as a suspected drug den, reportedly tenanted by Datu Uga Sinsuat, a municipal councilor of Datu Odin Sinsuat. Councilor Sinsuat expressed full support for the police’s anti-drug campaign, saying the crackdown sends a strong message that illegal drugs have no place in their community.
Vice Mayor Datu Bobsteel Sinsuat expressed deep concern and sorrow upon learning that the suspects were minors. “It is disheartening to see our youth fall victim to the scourge of illegal drugs,” he said, urging parents to take a more active role in monitoring their children’s activities and guiding them away from harmful influences.
The local government and police authorities continue to call on the public to remain vigilant and cooperative in efforts to eliminate drug-related activities, especially those that endanger the welfare of children and youth.
