DON CARLOS, Bukidnon – The long-anticipated Bukidnon Airport is on track to become a major gateway in Northern Mindanao, following a strategic site inspection led by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on July 18, 2025.

The ₱2.816-billion project, spearheaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas vision, is being developed in five phases, with target completion by December 2025 and flight-readiness by 2026.
Once operational, the airport will feature a 2,100-meter by 45-meter runway, a two-stub taxiway, and a wide apron capable of accommodating six aircraft at a time. It will also house a modern passenger terminal designed for 425 travelers, alongside essential facilities such as a control tower, fire station, administrative building, and parking areas. The design will support jet aircraft operations and commercial cargo services.
Phase V, with an additional ₱310 million allocation, will cover air navigation systems and other critical facilities to prepare the airport for full-scale operations.
According to MinDA, the airport is expected to open new economic and tourism opportunities for Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato, and the Bukidnon–Davao corridor. It will also enhance logistics efficiency and strengthen disaster response capabilities across the region.
As the government’s coordinating agency for strategic infrastructure in Mindanao, MinDA affirmed its role in ensuring timely project implementation, technical coordination among CAAP, DOTr, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and resolving mobility bottlenecks such as delays in the airport access road in Don Carlos.
“This is more than just infrastructure—it’s a step towards better connectivity and a stronger Mindanao,” MinDA said in a statement.
