BUKIDNON — Two separate incidents involving men aged 58 and 60 were reported in different parts of Bukidnon on Monday, August 31, 2026, with one resulting in the arrest of a 20-year-old nephew accused of hacking his uncle during a drinking session in Impasug-ong, while another man was found dead inside his home in Libona with no initial indication of foul play.

In Impasug-ong, police arrested a 20-year-old man identified as alias “Marmar” after allegedly hacking his 60-year-old uncle, alias “Ramon,” during an argument in Barangay Kibenton on Monday evening.
According to the Impasug-ong Municipal Police Station, the uncle and nephew had been drinking together when an argument broke out after both had become intoxicated.
The confrontation reportedly escalated when Marmar allegedly became angry, took a bladed weapon described as a sundang, and hacked his uncle.
Ramon sustained a wound to his left hand after he was struck by the weapon.
Relatives immediately sought assistance from barangay tanods, who responded and were able to apprehend the suspect shortly after the incident.
The injured victim was brought to a medical facility in Malaybalay City for treatment.
Police also recovered the sundang allegedly used in the attack at the scene. The weapon was subsequently turned over to authorities for documentation and evidence handling.
The suspect remains detained at the Impasug-ong Municipal Police Station while police prepare the appropriate complaint against him.
Meanwhile, in Libona, a 58-year-old man was found dead inside his residence in Zone 2, Barangay Kinawe, on Monday morning.
The victim, identified as alias “Simon,” was discovered after a neighbor became concerned when he failed to leave his house as he normally did in the morning.
According to the neighbor, Simon had not been seen leaving his residence from the previous evening until around 8 a.m. on August 31. Because this was unusual for him, the neighbor decided to check on him.
The neighbor was shocked to find Simon already unresponsive and apparently lifeless inside the house. His right hand was reportedly positioned over his chest.
Blood was also observed on the floor near the victim’s head, which was believed to have come from his nose and mouth.
Police subsequently conducted an initial examination of the scene. Authorities said they found no apparent signs of foul play.
The victim’s personal belongings were reportedly intact, with no items found missing from the residence.
Police also learned that Simon had been suffering from pneumonia and diabetes for some time. However, the circumstances surrounding his death remain subject to the appropriate medical and investigative procedures.
His remains were eventually turned over to his family for proper burial arrangements.
The two incidents occurred in separate municipalities and are being handled independently by local authorities. While the Impasug-ong case involves an alleged assault that led to the arrest of a suspect, the Libona case was initially treated as a death without apparent signs of foul play, based on the information available at the scene.
Authorities continue to document the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
