Tudela, Misamis Occidental — The Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry “Steady…On” Battalion, under the operational control of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, successfully recovered an arms cache belonging to the dismantled Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) of the CPP-NPA-NDF on August 24, 2025.

The cache, unearthed in Tudela, Misamis Occidental, contained one M16 rifle, two CZ rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and six AK-47 magazines.

The WMRPC, once a major stronghold of the CPP-NPA-NDF, was dismantled and declared totally defeated in 2024. It became the first Regional Party Committee of the communist terrorist group nationwide to collapse, leaving no remnants and no active armed members in Misamis Occidental and across Region 9.

With the recent recovery, authorities assured that the weapons will no longer threaten local communities nor be used to support other communist terrorist groups operating in Mindanao.

Maj. Gen. Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr., Commander of the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division and Joint Task Force (JTF) ZAMPELAN, commended the troops for their continued vigilance.

“The recovery of these firearms marks another milestone in sustaining our gains against the CPP-NPA-NDF. It assures the people that peace and security in Misamis Occidental are permanent and irreversible,” Barroquillo said.

The Philippine Army and JTF ZAMPELAN reaffirmed their commitment to safeguard communities and uphold the hard-won peace that the people of Misamis Occidental now enjoy.
