Zamboanga Sibugay – A 66-year-old man listed as the Top 2 Most Wanted Person (Regional Level) for terrorism-related offenses was apprehended at around 11:40 AM on June 25, 2025, by a composite tracker team in a joint law enforcement operation.

The arrest was led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Field Unit (CIDG ZSB PFU), with support from CIDG RFU9, Siay Municipal Police Station, the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (1ID, PA), the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office (PIU ZSBPPO), DI-MAPIO, and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Region 9 (NICA9).

The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay under Criminal Case No. I-10876 for violating Section 8(ii) of Republic Act No. 10168, also known as the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012. The court recommended bail was set at ₱200,000.00.

Authorities have placed the suspect in custody at the CIDG ZSB PFU Office pending the filing of appropriate charges.

PCOL Barnard Daniel V. Dasugo, Provincial Director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, emphasized the significance of the operation in a statement:

“The arrest of the Region’s Top 2 Most Wanted for terrorism financing highlights our strong coordination with partner agencies and unwavering commitment to public safety.
This success reflects the PNP’s core pillars—Swift and Responsive Service, Professionalism, and Accountability. The ZSBPPO remains steadfast in protecting our communities and supporting national security.”

The arrest marks a major breakthrough in the government’s campaign against terrorism financing and further strengthens efforts to ensure peace and order in the region.
