TAGO, SURIGAO DEL SUR — June 15, 2025
A suspected drug peddler from Marihatag, Surigao del Sur was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kinabigtasan, Tago, following a tip-off submitted through the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA) “Isumbong Mo Sa PDEA” (IMSP) Facebook page.

Acting on a confidential report from a concerned citizen, joint operatives of the Tago Municipal Police Station and the PDEA Surigao del Sur Provincial Office launched the operation at Purok Lerio in the afternoon of June 15. The suspect was caught red-handed selling suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, to an undercover agent.

Authorities confiscated an estimated ₱2,000 worth of illegal drugs, a mobile phone used to arrange the transaction, and the marked buy-bust money. The suspect is currently under police custody and will face charges for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA Regional Office 13 Director Levi S. Ortiz praised the citizen who reported the activity and emphasized the critical role of public cooperation in combating illegal drugs.

“This arrest is a strong reminder that when the community and law enforcement agencies work hand-in-hand, we can take meaningful strides toward a drug-free society,” Ortiz said. “We highly value the courage of every individual who chooses to stand against illegal drugs.”

Ortiz also encouraged residents of the Caraga Region to continue reporting suspicious drug-related activities through the IMSP Facebook page, assuring that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality to protect informants.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reiterated its call for vigilance and active public involvement in the national anti-drug campaign. Through responsible reporting and trust in the justice system, the agency believes that every Filipino can be part of the solution.
