ALABEL, Sarangani Province – In celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 awarded four special land patents to the local government unit (LGU) of Alabel on Thursday, June 12, as part of its ongoing Handog Titulo Program.

Officials from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sarangani and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Glan turned over the land titles covering key government properties. These include the Alabel Municipal Hall and Park Site, with respective areas of 5,887 and 5,961 square meters; the Day Care Center and Multi-Purpose Building, with a combined area of 1,921 square meters; and the Municipal Gymnasium, covering 10,021 square meters.

The Handog Titulo Program is a flagship initiative of the DENR, in partnership with the Registry of Deeds and LGUs, aimed at providing legal land titles to individuals and institutions. The program is guided by Republic Act No. 10023, which authorizes the issuance of free patents to residential lands to help secure land tenure and promote social equity.

Through this program, government sites and qualified residents can gain official ownership of land they occupy, ensuring access to government services and long-term development.
