Bongao, Tawi-Tawi — May 8, 2025

Two foreign nationals were intercepted on May 8, 2025, at the Bongao Seaport in Poblacion, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, during a routine patrol led by the Tawi-Tawi Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) in coordination with various government agencies.

The incident occurred during the inspection of passengers arriving from Zamboanga City aboard the MV Trisha Kerstin 2. Authorities discovered that the two foreigners failed to present original travel documents, showing only mobile phone images of their passports.

Following coordination with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Zamboanga City, it was confirmed that both individuals are blacklisted and allegedly involved in illegal activities, including prostitution and labor exploitation. Investigations revealed that the suspects had traveled from Manila to Dipolog, proceeded to Zamboanga City, and eventually made their way to Tawi-Tawi.

The two individuals are currently in the custody of Tawi-Tawi MARPSTA while awaiting official action from the Bureau of Immigration.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or presence of unfamiliar individuals, especially in critical areas such as seaports and airports. Community cooperation with law enforcement is vital in maintaining peace and preventing illegal operations.
