Zamboanga City – May 9, 2025 — Authorities confiscated an estimated Php680,000 worth of suspected shabu from a newly identified high-value individual during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Zamboanga City Office (PDEA ZCO), its Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and Zamboanga City Police Station 11.

The operation was carried out around 2:09 p.m. in Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City.

The suspect, identified by the alias “Gafs,” is a 32-year-old married man, an elementary graduate, and works as a driver. He is a resident of Kasulutan Drive, Barangay Sta. Catalina, Zamboanga City.

Seized from the suspect were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a total of 100 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of approximately Php680,000. Also recovered were a genuine Php1,000 bill used as marked money, a bundle of fake bills consisting of 119 pieces of Php1,000 notes, a plastic bag, and a blue-and-black Yamaha Aerox motorcycle bearing plate number 214 JYG.

The suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”

Authorities emphasized that this operation underscores the continued commitment of the Philippine National Police and partner government agencies to pursue those involved in illegal drugs, maintain community safety, and uphold peace and order under the administration’s vision of a progressive and drug-free “Bagong Pilipinas.”
