Dipolog City, April 22, 2025 — In a proactive move to strengthen digital security and institutional compliance, the Management Information Services Office (MISO) of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte conducted an information dissemination session on Executive Order No. 12, which outlines the province’s Information and ICT Facility Use, Security, and Data Integrity Policy.

Led by MISO Officer-in-Charge and Information Technology Officer II, Ms. Constance Marie Yvette M. Son, the session gathered department heads and officers-in-charge at the provincial capitol to discuss the key provisions of the newly issued executive order. The initiative aims to raise awareness and understanding among local government employees about responsible and secure ICT usage in the workplace.

“This is a crucial step in ensuring that our workforce is well-informed about the digital policies that govern their daily operations. Educating our employees on cybersecurity practices is not just about compliance—it’s about protecting the integrity of government services and the data we are entrusted to manage,” said Ms. Son.

Executive Order No. 12, the first of its kind in the province, outlines guidelines on the proper use of ICT facilities, data integrity standards, and cybersecurity protocols. The policy was crafted as part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and to safeguard its digital infrastructure from potential threats and misuse.

The session highlighted not only best practices in digital security but also the penalties for violations, underscoring the accountability measures set forth in the order. Participants actively engaged in the discussions, raising questions and seeking clarification to ensure a thorough understanding of the order’s provisions.

This initiative reflects the growing recognition of the importance of digital literacy and data privacy in the public sector. As government operations become increasingly reliant on technology, capacitating employees with the right knowledge and skills becomes vital to maintaining service efficiency and public trust.

With this first round of orientation successfully completed, MISO is expected to continue its efforts in rolling out similar information sessions across other departments, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to a secure and responsive digital governance system.
