Jolo, Sulu – April 2, 2025 – A farmer died while another civilian was injured in a shooting incident that occurred late Tuesday morning, April 1, at North Market Road, Barangay Walled City in Jolo, Sulu.

The fatality, identified as 51-year-old Wahid Sakib Madjuh, a resident of Barangay Bus-Bus, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Sulu Provincial Hospital. According to police, Madjuh sustained three gunshot wounds to the back from a .45 caliber pistol.

Initial investigation by the Jolo Municipal Police Station revealed that Madjuh was walking with his wife when an unidentified gunman shot him from behind. Authorities believe the attack was targeted.

Also injured in the incident was 64-year-old Marbia Radjam Dammang, a widow and resident of Barangay Kandang Tukay, Indanan. She suffered minor injuries after being caught in the crossfire while passing through the area.

Police responded to the scene shortly after receiving a report from a concerned citizen and recovered a spent cartridge from a .45 caliber pistol. By the time authorities arrived, both victims had already been taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred just a day after the celebration of Eid Fitr in the province. Police are still conducting a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect.
