Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte — Through the concerted efforts of the Regional Intelligence Division 9, Sindangan Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit, authorities successfully intercepted an illegal tobacco operation in Barangay Goleo, Sindangan.
The operation, which took place in Sector 6 of the said barangay, led to the confiscation of illegal tobacco products valued at Php 401,100.00.
The Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO) lauded the accomplishment, emphasizing their ongoing commitment to public safety, protecting the community from the harmful effects of illicit goods, and ensuring that proper taxes are collected from products entering the province.
Authorities reminded the public that the purchase and distribution of untaxed or smuggled products not only undermine legal businesses but also deprive the government of revenues meant for public services.
Investigation into the source and distribution network of the illegal tobacco products is now underway.
