Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao Del Sur – March 18, 2025 – A significant milestone in the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) ongoing campaign against loose firearms was achieved in Brgy. Barurao, Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao Del Sur.
In a coordinated effort led by the Sultan Sa Barongis Municipal Police Station (MPS), a concerned resident voluntarily surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun. The firearm, which lacked a serial number, was handed over to authorities in the presence of PLT Samer J. Kasan, Officer-in-Charge of Sultan Sa Barongis MPS, and Barangay Chairwoman Hon. Junee M. Angas.
The anonymous surrender highlights the local community’s growing support for the PNP’s campaign against loose firearms. It underscores public cooperation in fostering peace and order within their locality, reflecting a collective effort to curb the proliferation of unregistered and illegal weapons.
The surrendered firearm is now under the custody of Sultan Sa Barongis MPS and will be forwarded to the Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) BAR for ballistics examination. Authorities aim to trace its origin and ensure its compliance with existing regulations.
